The Golden Conure can be found in Brazil in the drier upland rain forests. It survives on a
diet of fruit, flowers. seed and maize.

The Golden Conure is an
endangered species, and this is due in part to deforestation  for
road construction, and  also to its capture for the pet trade.

Blue-crowned Conure


Found in Colombia,  Argentina, Brazil,  and Paraguay .They inhabit grasslands, , dry forests, and
open habitats. rarely if ever in rain forests.

The
Blue-crowned Conure is one of the larger birds in this class. It  measures about 14.5 inches.. It is a very social bird and it is an
able talker.

The Green Conure, is native to Mexico Australia and Central America  

It feeds on seeds, various fruits,nuts, berries, and corn. In some
countries they are considered crop pests. They can be found.
in the scrub and swamp forests,, woodlands, and forest clearing,
never in the rainforests. It is usually seen in large flocks.



The Red-masked parakeet is found in Ecuador and Peru.in forests edges and open areas, dry scrub lands, and also near cities. and
some humid forests..

It is a very good talker..This conure has made quite a name for itself in the San Francisco area where it has apparently established little
feral populations. It is a very social and active little parrot.
This species is  considered threatened on account of the bird trade
Finsch's Conure

Aka the Crimson-fronted Parakeet is found in   Costa Rica and Panama in the   tropical  and subtropical moist  forests.
and in the more open  country where the forests are not so dense. It is often seen around fruit plantations.

It feeds on flowers and fruits, grain, and maize. It is a social bird seen in fairly large flocks.

Sun Conure

is native to  Brazil  inly occurs and is found in and around humid forests.in scrub lands along  the rivers,, in savannas with
palm groves. It is a very loud and sociable little parrot.

It is considered an
endangered species..Their beautiful colouration and ability to talk make them very popular as pets. In
addition they are among the friendliest of all conures.

is native to Brazil. in the mountain and forest areas. Resembles the sun conure a great  
deal but its green wings and back serve to differentiate them  quite easily.

Very few parrot species inhabit temperate zones. The  2 Mexican parrots  that do, namely the Thick-Billed Parrot and the Maroon-
fronted Parrot,  are very dependent  on the mature pines, conifer and pine oak forests for nesting and foraging. Both of these parrots
are seen  eating pine seeds and  acorns as very important  parts of their diet.

The Thick-Billed Parrot   aka  the “snow parrot" is restricted in range to Mexico. It lives in temperate  forests in the conifer, pine,
mature  pine-oak and fir trees .It  feeds on conifer cones and acorn as well as from various pine species. A very important part of
their day involves foraging for  variations of cones   The destruction of its habitat and the  illegal bird trade  are the main factors
responsible for this species status as an endangered species.  There may be a few thousand individuals left in the wild at present.
In all probability, there may be a few thousand Thick-Billed parrots left in the wild at present. The Mexican government has created
ancient forest sanctuaries in its conservation efforts to protect this bird's habitat.  Although this bird prefers roosting  on cliffs , it does
show some ability to adapt  to roosting in trees also.

The  Maroon-fronted Parrot also lives in mature pine, mixed conifer, and pine-oak forests from  They nest in on cliffs near water in
large colonies  This bird was rendered vulnerable on account of the destruction of its habitat. Only 2500-3000 birds remain in the
wild at present.  This bird is also often trapped for illegal pet trade activities.

preferring to walk, jump, climb. They are not known for their vocal abilities. They do enjoy a wide range for foraging and nesting and are
common birds at present.. Their number has declined in some of their range mainly on account of the pet trade and some loss of
habitat.
