There is the possibility that parrots did descend from dinosaurs.. Be it as it may parrots nowadays
come in various sizes none of which approach the size of dinosaurs. Parrots are said to possess
an intelligence comparable to that of small children. Parrots bond strongly with humans and that
is one of the reasons why they are so popular as pets.
THE HEAVYWEIGHTS
The larger parrots range in size from 81 to 100 cm (30 to 39in) in length with wing spans reaching
up to 120-140cm (48-56in); The Hyacinth Macaw is the largest parrot measuring 100 cm in
height with a wing span of approximatively 120cm, The Hyacinth Macaw is easily recognizable on
account of its cobalt blue colour. Is is a rare parrot and is on the list of endangered species. The
Hyacinth commands a high market price.
THE LIGHTWEIGHTS
In the 41-46 cm range there is a wide variety of parrots from several geographical locations. Here we find the Umbrella and
Blue-eyed cockatoos, the Chestnut-fronted, Blue-headed, Blue-winged and Golden-collared Macaws. Amazons such as the
